Common Questions

What do I need to use the app?

A MeTube server your iPhone or iPad can reach on your network or over a VPN. Enter its address in Settings, for example 192.168.1.10:8081. The server needs no changes.

Which videos play?

Anything iOS can play natively. H.264 or HEVC video with AAC audio in MP4 files works best. The app doesn't convert files.

Does it work with servers that require a login?

Not in this version.

Does the app turn Tailscale on or off?

No. It checks whether your server answers at the Tailscale address, and uses the local address if it doesn't answer within four seconds.
